India :
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched fresh criticisms at the INDIA bloc, dismissing it as a coalition of "family-oriented" parties whose leaders prioritize promoting their family members into political positions such as Prime Minister or Chief Minister. Speaking at the TV9 Bharatvarsh conclave in the national capital, Shah highlighted the dominance of familial aspirations within the alliance.
"INDIA Alliance is nothing but a combination of family-oriented parties, the leaders of which are bent on making their family members either Prime Minister or Chief Minister. Nobody cares about India. I want to tell the people of the country that Soniaji (Congress leader Sonia Gandhi) wants her son rahul-gandhi" target="_blank">Rahul Gandhi to be successfully 'launched' in politics. He has already failed 20 times," Shah remarked.
Asserting that the INDIA bloc is largely a media creation, Shah emphasized internal contradictions within the alliance, citing opposing factions within Kerala and competition in West Bengal. He noted existing alliances in Maharashtra, Punjab, and Delhi but questioned the lack of coherence and shared principles among the coalition members.
Predicting a rift within the alliance after the Lok Sabha poll results, Shah pointed out individual ambitions within the parties, such as Uddhav Thackeray and M.K. Stalin aspiring for their sons' elevation to chief ministership. Shah expressed confidence in BJP's victory for the third consecutive time in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, citing the party's expanding footprint in eastern India and their aim to surpass the 400-seat mark.
"Political analysts used to say that there is no ground for the BJP in eastern India. Now we have won Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, and Odisha. We crossed the 300-mark. We have faith in our leader. We will again form the government by crossing the 400 mark in the Lok Sabha polls," Shah asserted.
The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in April-May this year.
