Tough Fight Expected Between Congress and BJP for Adilabad Lok Sabha Seat Amid Political Shifts
The Adilabad Lok Sabha seat is poised for a fierce electoral battle between the Congress and the BJP, with several political shifts and realignments taking place in the region. The contest is expected to be intense, given the changing political landscape and shifting loyalties of key leaders. The BJP, with its stronghold in the Khanapur and Boath assembly constituencies and the support of four MLAs from the Lok Sabha constituency, is gearing up for a tough fight. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Adilabad, where he inaugurated various development projects and addressed a public meeting, underscored the party's commitment to the region. With a strong Hindu vote bank, the BJP is positioning itself as a formidable contender in the upcoming elections. However, the political dynamics are undergoing significant changes, with reports suggesting that sitting MP Soyam Bapu Rao may defect to the Congress party. This move comes in response to the BJP's decision to field former BRS Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh, who recently joined the BJP, as its candidate for the Lok Sabha seat. Additionally, prominent BRS leaders, including former MLA Koneru Konappa and others, have announced their allegiance to the Congress, further altering the political equation in the constituency. The shifting loyalties of key leaders indicate a diversion of the BRS vote bank towards the Congress, potentially influencing the outcome of the elections in Adilabad. In the recent assembly elections, the BRS secured a significant number of votes, closely followed by the BJP and the Congress. With nearly 4 lakh tribal population, including a substantial number of adivasis and Lambadas, the constituency holds strategic importance in the electoral landscape. Meanwhile, the BSP, led by RS Praveeen Kumar, is seeking a share of the electoral pie in Adilabad and Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha seats, out of the total 17 seats in the state. Praveen Kumar and former Adilabad ZP chairman Sidam Ganapathi are expected to contest from Nagarkurnool and Adilabad respectively, adding another dimension to the electoral dynamics in the region. The political scenario in Adilabad is further complicated by the potential entry of former minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy and former MLA Vittal Reddy into the Congress fold, adding to the complexity of the electoral landscape. Overall, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Adilabad are poised to be a closely contested affair, with the Congress and the BJP vying for dominance amidst shifting political allegiances and strategic maneuvering.

The Congress clarified that the motion is not about numbers but to pressure PM Modi for a statement on Manipur in Parliament. Tewari compared the potential repetition of history to a farce. He emphasized that a no-confidence motion should take priority, and bills passed afterward might be constitutionally suspect. The government's response to the situation in Manipur was deemed reprehensible, and PM Modi's silence on the matter in Parliament was criticized.
