YSRC Names Gumma Thanuja Rani as Araku Parliamentary Candidate

The ruling YSRC party surprised many by announcing Gumma Thanuja Rani as its candidate for the Araku parliamentary constituency, the sole tribal segment in Andhra Pradesh. This decision marks the second change in candidate selection for the constituency, with Thanuja Rani replacing the previously nominated candidate. The move follows dissatisfaction among locals with the earlier nominee, MLA Bhagyalakshmi, who was perceived as favoring non-tribals. Thanuja Rani, the daughter-in-law of Araku MLA Chetti Palguna, brings a background in healthcare and strong familial ties to the region. However, she may face competition from former Araku MP Kothapalli Geetha, expected to run as the BJP-Sena-TD candidate.
