Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has reaffirmed its commitment to football enthusiasts in the Indian subcontinent by extending its partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the exclusive broadcast and digital rights of prominent European club football tournaments.

The renewal agreement, covering the period from the 2024/2025 season until the conclusion of the 2026-2027 season, solidifies Sony Sports Network's position as the premier destination for football content in India. Over the next three seasons, fans can look forward to witnessing over 1600 football matches, including flagship tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, and UEFA Youth League.

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer - Distribution & International Business and Head - Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed pride in extending the partnership with UEFA, emphasizing Sony Sports Network's dedication to delivering top-tier football action to viewers across the region. He highlighted the significant surge in UEFA Champions League viewership in India, citing the introduction of regional language commentary as a contributing factor. With the transition to a new tournament format and the addition of more matches tailored for Indian audiences, Sony Sports Network aims to further accelerate its growth trajectory as the 'Home of Football' in India.

The upcoming UEFA Champions League season will introduce an enhanced competition system, featuring a new league phase with the participation of four additional clubs. This revamped format promises increased excitement and opportunities for fans to witness clashes between Europe's elite clubs. Furthermore, the absence of a January break ensures uninterrupted football action from August to May, enriching the viewing experience for football enthusiasts.

Sony Sports Network's commitment to providing comprehensive coverage extends to regional language telecasts, with select UEFA Champions League matches available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The incremental reach contributed by regional language coverage has witnessed substantial growth over the years, underscoring the network's efforts to engage diverse audiences across India.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Events SA Marketing Director, expressed satisfaction in continuing the partnership with Sony Sports Network, acknowledging the network's role in elevating UEFA's football properties' following and viewership in India. Football fans in the region can expect extensive coverage of UEFA tournaments, complemented by Sony Sports Network's digital platform SonyLIV.

In addition to UEFA competitions, Sony Sports Network remains the official broadcaster for various football events, including the UEFA EURO 2024, Bundesliga, Emirates FA Cup, and Roshn Saudi Pro League, further enriching the football viewing experience for Indian audiences.
