Gujarat Chief Minister Launches Schemes to Support Students' Education with Rs 1,650 Crore Allocation

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled two schemes on Saturday aimed at providing financial assistance to students from Classes 9 to 12, with a budget allocation of Rs 1,650 crore from the state budget.
The first scheme, named "Namo Lakshmi Yogana," focuses on girls studying in Classes 9 to 12, who will receive Rs 50,000 over four years. Additionally, both girls and boys opting for the science stream in Classes 11 and 12 will benefit from the "Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana," receiving Rs 25,000.
The primary objective of these schemes is to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to promoting girls' education and enhancing science education. The government believes that these initiatives will empower women and youth in Gujarat through education.
The launch event took place at Gyanda High School in Ahmedabad, with approximately 35,000 students and educators participating virtually. Under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, girls will receive Rs 500 per month for 10 months each year, along with an additional Rs 10,000 after passing the Class 10 board exam.
For students in Classes 11 and 12, the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana will provide Rs 750 per month for 10 months each year, along with an additional Rs 15,000 after passing the Class 12 board exam. Notably, girls studying in Class 11 and 12 science will benefit from both schemes, irrespective of their family income level.
These schemes represent a significant investment by the Gujarat government in promoting education, particularly for girls and those pursuing science studies. They aim to create a supportive environment for students to excel academically and contribute to the state's development and progress.
