Congress Central Election Committee to Decide First List of Lok Sabha Candidates

The Congress party has scheduled a crucial meeting of its Central Election Committee (CEC) on Thursday to finalize the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, the CEC comprises prominent party leaders, including former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and rahul-gandhi" target="_blank">Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh announced the meeting in a tweet, stating, "The first meeting of INCIndia Central Election Committee(CEC) that considers and decides on candidates for Lok Sabha polls is being held at 6 pm on March 7th."

Meanwhile, the Congress manifesto committee, headed by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, has completed drafting the party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls. Chidambaram revealed that the draft report will be presented to the Congress president for further discussion.

"We have prepared the draft manifesto. Now it will go to the Congress Working Committee. They will finalize the manifesto then it will become the Congress party document. Tomorrow we will hand over this draft to the Congress President," Chidambaram stated.

The Lok Sabha elections are anticipated to be conducted in April-May this year, and the Congress is gearing up to contest the polls vigorously by finalizing its candidates and manifesto to present its vision and agenda to the electorate.
