APP Leader Arvind Kejriwal Assert if he does not appear at ED Summons
India / New Delhi :
At a press conference held on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Atishi raised concerns over threats of potential arrest directed at Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and AAP's national convenor. Atishi asserted that if AAP forms an alliance with the Congress party or the opposition's Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal could face arrest within the next three to four days.
During the press conference, Atishi revealed that several AAP leaders had received messages and threats regarding Kejriwal's arrest and possible action by investigative agencies such as the CBI and ED.
"At present, discussions on an alliance between AAP and Congress are in the final stages. However, we have received threats indicating that if AAP does not withdraw from the INDIA alliance, Arvind Kejriwal will receive a CBI notice under CrPC Section 41 A, and the CBI and the ED will take action," Atishi informed reporters.
She further disclosed that the messengers behind the threats had conveyed that AAP's withdrawal from the opposition's INDIA bloc was the only way to prevent Kejriwal from facing potential jail time.
Meanwhile, negotiations for the AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are nearly complete. As part of the seat-sharing arrangement, AAP is expected to contest four out of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, while the Congress will contest the remaining three.
The anticipated seat distribution suggests that AAP may contest from New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and North West, while the Congress may field candidates in East Delhi, Chandani Chowk, and North East Delhi constituencies. However, a formal announcement regarding the seat-sharing agreement is still pending.
It's worth noting that the BJP has been winning all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi since 2014. Despite the threats and challenges, AAP remains committed to its political strategies, including the pursuit of electoral alliances and contesting key constituencies in the upcoming elections.
