Girijana Cooperative Corporation Raises Procurement Price of Honey to Support Tribal Communities
The Girijana Cooperative Corporation (GCC) in Visakhapatnam has announced an increase in the procurement price of honey gathered by honey hunters from ₹200 to ₹250 per kilogramme. The vice president and managing director of the corporation, G Suresh Kumar, highlighted that the decision aims to support tribal communities engaged in honey collection. GCC has also emphasized adherence to FSSAI norms during procurement and plans to issue identity cards to honey-collecting tribes. The corporation plays a vital role in refining and distributing honey produced in various divisions of Andhra Pradesh, contributing to the economic well-being of tribal populations.
