Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Hits Jaipur, Rajasthan; Minor Aftershock Follows
On July 21, 2023, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, India. The earthquake's epicenter was approximately 9 kilometers away from Jaipur, with a depth of 10 kilometers. A minor aftershock of 3.1 magnitude followed shortly after the initial quake. The National Center for Seismology reported the seismic activity. Officials, including Rajasthan's minister for tourism and civil aviation, Murari Lal Meena, and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, expressed concern for the safety of citizens. Videos of the earthquake and its effects, including startled dogs on the streets, were shared on social media. While the situation was taken seriously, some individuals light-heartedly referenced J.
