Congress MP Challenges PM Modi's GDP Guarantee, Advocates Socially Inclusive Growth under INDIA Alliance
A war of words erupted between Congress MP Jairam Ramesh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the latter gave a personal guarantee on India's emergence as the world's third-largest economy. Ramesh, heading the communications department of the Congress party, dismissed the guarantee as an arithmetical inevitability and emphasized the differences in growth promised by the newly-formed INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) alliance. The alliance, comprising 26 opposition parties, aims to challenge PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and pursue socially inclusive and ecologically sustainable growth.
