Manipur CM Responds to Kuki MLAs' Letter to PM, Affirms Freedom of Expression
Chief Minister N Biren Singh of Manipur has reacted to a recent appeal by Kuki MLAs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the establishment of separate posts for Chief Secretary and DGP in Kuki-dominated hill areas of the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that in a democratic society, everyone has the right to express their opinions freely. The Kuki MLAs, comprising ten legislators, including seven from the BJP, had submitted a memorandum to Modi, seeking enhanced administrative roles for efficient governance in the wake of prolonged ethnic unrest. The MLAs also sought financial assistance from the PM's relief fund to aid the rehabilitation of those affected by the three-month-long strife.
