A deceased Bryde's whale was discovered washed up on the shore of Meghavaram village in the Santhabommali mandal of Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. Videos of local villagers interacting with and examining the whale's remains have gained traction on social media. Bryde's whales are characterized by specific morphological features, and authorities have confirmed the identification based on these markers. The cause of the whale's death remains unknown, prompting an ongoing investigation. Local fishermen speculate that the whale may have been trapped in shallow waters. The marine mammal is estimated to measure around 25 feet in length and weigh up to five tonnes. Andhra Pradesh has been experiencing heavy rainfall recently, with several locations, including Srikakulam, receiving substantial precipitation in the last 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
