Smriti Irani Counters Rahul Gandhi's No-Confidence Motion Speech, Accuses Congress of Historical Bloodshed
Union Minister Smriti Irani offered a pointed rebuttal to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks during the no-confidence motion debate. Irani highlighted the gravity of Gandhi's statement on the 'death of Mother India,' asserting that this was the first instance a Member of Parliament spoke such words and received applause from alliance members. Drawing attention to India's commitment to meritocracy over dynasty, Irani underscored the nation's aversion to corruption and dynastic politics. She invoked historical events, including the 1984 riots and the Emergency, and referenced the killing of Girija Tickoo as part of Congress' blood-soaked history. Irani also addressed the contentious issue of Article 370 and Rahul Gandhi's alleged assurance regarding its reinstatement. As Rahul Gandhi left the Parliament abruptly, Irani criticized the opposition for evading discussions on the Manipur issue. She also questioned Rahul Gandhi's foreign visits and questioned Congress' projects involving Adani.
