Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping and Torturing Woman Friend in Delhi
A 28-year-old man from Uttarakhand, identified as Paras, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly raping and torturing a woman friend from West Bengal's Darjeeling. The victim, who had befriended the accused over the phone, was subjected to a week-long ordeal of physical and sexual assault, including being thrashed and burnt with hot lentils. Paras, who worked as a cook, faces charges of rape, sodomy, and causing hurt. The incident came to light when the victim was rescued by the police following a PCR call reporting domestic violence. She was hospitalized with multiple injuries and has since been discharged. The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.

High-Level Inquiry Ordered into Ulhasnagar Firing Incident Involving BJP MLA and Shiv Sena Leader
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a high-level inquiry into a serious firing incident in Ulhasnagar involving BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad and local Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad. The incident, which occurred inside a police station, is linked to a land dispute. Ganpat Gaikwad justified his actions, stating he used a firearm to protect his son from alleged assault by the Sena leader's associates. He accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of fostering a "kingdom of criminals" in Maharashtra and claimed the CM's son was taking credit for his work. The state BJP chief pledged action if the MLA is found guilty.
