A woman's attempt to board a moving train at Jabalpur's Madan Mahal railway station took a dangerous turn on Friday, narrowly escaping serious injury. Kajal Dubey, a resident of Katni district, found herself in a precarious situation as she rushed to catch the departing train bound for Bhopal.
The entire incident unfolded swiftly, captured by CCTV cameras installed on the platform. Dubey, visibly in a hurry, arrived on the platform just as the Shridham Express, en route to Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi, was pulling out of the station at its scheduled departure time of 5:30 PM.
In her desperate attempt to board the moving train, Dubey reached for one of the coach gates but tragically lost her footing and slipped from the platform. The alarming scene caught the attention of another passenger nearby, who acted swiftly to prevent further harm.
Witnessing Dubey's fall, the quick-thinking passenger pulled the emergency chain, bringing the train to a halt and alerting railway authorities to the unfolding emergency. Subsequently, Dubey was attended to by railway staff and swiftly transported to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention.
Balram Yadav, the officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station, provided an update on Dubey's condition, stating that she is currently undergoing treatment and is in stable condition. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and exercising caution while boarding trains, particularly when they are in motion.
Railway officials have emphasized the need for passengers to prioritize safety and refrain from attempting to board moving trains, as such reckless actions can lead to severe injuries or fatalities. The incident underscores the critical role of surveillance technology in monitoring railway platforms and facilitating prompt response to emergencies, potentially averting tragic outcomes.
