Bengal govt on Friday stopped the sale of potato grown in the state outside Bengal until prices cooled off significantly.

Approximately 10 lakh tonnes of potato are stored in 475 cold storages which should meet the demand until Dec when the new crop is available in markets.
Rabindra Nath Koley a member of the task force said it had been decided that all cold storages would be asked to let go of their stocks so that potato could hit the wholesale and retail markets.
