Uttarakhand teacher on election duty suspended for violating 'code of conduct'

DEHRADUN: A govt teacher from Rudryaprayag district was suspended after allegations of violating the model code of conduct ahead of theKedarnath bypollon November 20.
Bhanu Pratap Singh Bhanu Pratap Singh from Government Intercollege Kandara was on election duty officials said.
It seems that this teacher clicked photos with the candidate and representatives of one political party and posted them on social media while the model code of conduct is in effect in the district said AB Joshi assistant director of secondary education.
Joshi said Singh received warnings in the past as well for a similar offence in a previous election.
The incident came to light when the district election commission sent us a letter for this violation. Upon investigation it was clear that the COC was flouted. We cannot have teachers on election duty make such mistakes and come off as biased
While officials of Rudrprayag education department denied knowledge of the incident a source said that another teacher was attached to the school while Singh is on suspension following an inquiry.
