A Philadelphia man is suing Frontier Airlines after he says he suffered severe burns from spilled tea during a flight.
Sean Miller was flying from Myrtle Beach South Carolina to Philadelphia on September 20 when the incident occurred. According to the lawsuit Miller asked for hot tea during the flight and the tea was served "in a highly negligent manner, filled to the brim, at an unsafely and unreasonably high temperature and without any form of
Miller alleges the hot tea spilled on his lap causing third-degree burns on his genitals and he was unable to get up due to the plane's seating arrangement.
Due to the tightly-situated plane seat configuration Mr. Miller was unable to get up from his seat after the spill and instead was trapped in agonizing pain while his body was burnt.
After landing in Philadelphia Miller was taken to Jefferson Medical Hospital burn center for treatment. The lawsuit claims Miller suffered permanent scarring and has experienced sexual dysfunction and emotional distress since the incident.
Miller is seeking $150,000 in damages from Frontier Airlines. He claims the airline had a duty to serve him the tea safely.
Frontier Airlines has not yet responded publicly to the lawsuit.
