Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed profound grief on Wednesday over the tragic road accident in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, which resulted in the loss of lives of 12 passengers and left 14 others injured.

In a statement, Shah extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. "The bus accident in Durg, Chhattisgarh, is sad. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. 12 people lost their lives in the accident," he posted on social media.

According to officials, the accident occurred when a bus overturned and rolled over into a ditch in the Kumhari area of the Durg district. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 pm on Tuesday.

Providing further details, Durg Collector Richa Prakash Choudhary stated that the bus, carrying labourers, met with the tragic accident. "Twelve passengers were killed, and 14 others sustained grievous injuries after the bus fell into a ditch near Kumhari," she informed.

Choudhary also mentioned that 12 of the injured individuals were referred and shifted to AIIMS in Raipur, while the remaining two are receiving treatment at a private hospital. All the injured persons are reported to be in stable condition, receiving the necessary medical attention.

The authorities are currently engaged in the process of evacuating passengers who may still be trapped inside the bus. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
