Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Interim Budget for 2023-2024 in Parliament today, narrowing the fiscal deficit estimate to 5.8% of GDP for 2023-2024, down from 6.4% for the current year. 

In her budget speech, Sitharaman stated that the Indian economy has undergone a "positive transformation" over the last 10 years under the current government. She highlighted improved infrastructure, increasing digitalization, and job creation as some of the key achievements.

The Finance Minister outlined the government's focus on fiscal consolidation while continuing to boost growth through increased spending on infrastructure and digital initiatives. With general elections due next year, the budget avoided any major tax changes and populist measures.
