New Delhi: Police have filed seven FIRs in connection with a court-mandated survey of a Mughal-era mosque in Sambhal. Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq and Sohail Iqbal son of local SP MLA Iq
The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders and restricted the entry of outsiders into Sambhal until November 30.
The unrest resulted in three fatalities and numerous injuries including those sustained by security personnel and administrative officials as protesters opposing the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid clashed with police on Sunday
On Monday a fourth person died of injuries.
Police Superintendent Krishan Kumar announced that seven FIRs had been registered naming six individuals including Barq and Iqbal while 2,750 unidentified individuals were also listed.
