NEW DELHI: The district administration has appointed a receiver to manage a disputed section of Udaipur's City Palace amid rising tensions afterVishvaraj Singh was denied entry.
The decision follows a clash between supporters of Vishvaraj Singh and those backing his paternal uncle Arvind Singh Mewar who currently oversees the City Palace.
The clash occurred after Singh's anointment as titular head of the family in Chittorgarh.
He intended to visit a religious site within the city palace and the Eklingnathji temple both managed by his uncle.
Arvind Singh Mewar had issued public notices warning against trespassing.
Singh arrived at the palace accompanied by supporters but was denied entry. Police were deployed following the public notices while Singh waited near the palace some of his supporters attempted to breach police barricades leading to a protest
The situation was under control and possession of the area would be taken on Tuesday depending on the situation said Ghanta Ghar SHO Vyas.
Three police officers were injured during stone-pelting from both sides at the palace gate. To manage the escalating situation an additional district magistrate appointed a police officer as receiver for the disputed area within the palace
The receiver will determine entry rules for the disputed area.
Vishvaraj Singh eventually left without visiting the religious site.
Security measures are now in place around the palace and nearby markets are closed. Singh is a member of the legislative assembly and his wife is a member of parliament.
