rahul-dravid" target="_blank">Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, recently commended the team's strategic decision-making and the contributions of its rising young talent in the successful series against England.

Dravid explained the rationale behind including spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI instead of opting for an all-rounder following Ravindra Jadeja's injury during the first Test match. He referred to former teammate VVS Laxman when he saw Axar Patel batting at No. 6, highlighting the importance of taking 20 wickets to win Test matches.

"When I saw Axar walk in at No.6, I remember looking at Vikram and thinking, ‘Jeez, VVS (Laxman) used to walk out at that position'. With due respect to Axar (laughs), he is a lovely player," Dravid stated.

Dravid emphasized that the team's strategy was centered around the ability to take 20 wickets quickly, which he considered the key to winning Test matches. He expressed satisfaction with the decision to prioritize a specialist spinner over an all-rounder, describing it as the "braver option" that ultimately paid off.

Reflecting on India's series win against England, Dravid praised the team's young talent for stepping up in the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Despite losing the opening Test match, India bounced back strongly to clinch the series with a convincing performance in subsequent matches.

"I think just the fact that we lost the first Test match, had to bounce back from there, had to do it with a slightly different team to the one that we probably expected to start the series with a few months ago," Dravid remarked, expressing pride in the team's growth and evolution.

India's victory against England showcased the depth and resilience of its squad, with emerging players making significant contributions to secure the series win.
