With hectic preparations for the Mahakumbh Mahakumbhunderway 2025 mela authorities will complete the process of land allocation for akhadas—representing the revered sadhus and sanyasis who uphold Sanatan culture—as per the traditional practices.
Significantly mela authorities have also assured that the akhadas will receive no less land than what was allotted during the previous Kumbh ensuring continuity and respect for their traditions. Once the land allocation for the akhadas is complete the focus will shift to providing land
The Prayagraj Mela Authority is working tirelessly to ensure a grandMahakumbh 2025. Alongside enhancing the beauty and infrastructure of Prayagraj city the development of the Mahakumbh city has also begun. Construction work is underway for facilities like pontoon bridges
No akhada will receive less land than it was allotted during the 2019 Kumbh. The land allocation process is being finalised in consultation with Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad and representatives of all akhadas. The allocation is scheduled to be completed by November 18 and 19
Chaturvedi said that as per tradition land will first be allocated to the akhadas before starting the process for other institutions. Similarly land will also be allocated to the Shankaracharyas of the four Peeths and Dandi Swamis for setting up their camps
The Mela Authority is providing essential facilities to the akhadas' camps including land, water and electricity connections, toilets, drainage and sanitation.
