Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking via video link at the G20 Health Ministers' meeting held in the capital city of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, urged member nations to prioritize the equitable availability of technology and promote innovations for the greater public good. He stressed the importance of utilizing digital solutions and innovations to ensure inclusivity and equity in healthcare efforts.

PM Modi emphasized the value of global initiatives in the realm of global health, suggesting that these initiatives could serve as a platform to bring together various digital health projects. He urged countries to open up their innovations for the benefit of the public, which would, in turn, help prevent duplication of funding. The prime minister stated, "Let us avoid duplication of funding. Let us facilitate equitable availability of technology. This initiative will allow countries in the global south to close the gap in healthcare delivery. It will take us one step closer to our goal of achieving universal health coverage (UHC)."

Highlighting India's commitment to healthcare progress, PM Modi announced that the nation is on track to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) well ahead of the global target of 2030. He shared that India has launched the "Ni-kshay Mitra" initiative, which encourages citizens to be "Friends for Eradication of TB." Through this initiative, nearly 1 million patients have been adopted by citizens, showcasing the power of public participation in tackling healthcare challenges.

Furthermore, the prime minister stressed the importance of being prepared for future health emergencies, citing the recent COVID-19 pandemic as an example. He stated, "We must be ready to prevent, prepare and respond to the next health emergency (like COVID-19)." PM Modi's call for preparedness underlines the significance of proactive planning and collaboration on a global scale to effectively address potential health crises.

In his address to the G20 Health Ministers' meeting, PM Modi highlighted the role of technology, innovation, and public engagement in creating a more inclusive and effective healthcare landscape.
