Two parents were arrested and charged with attempted murder on October 18 after allegedly attacking their 17-year-old daughter outsideTimberline High School in Lacey Washington.
Police say the attack was motivated by the daughter's refusal to enter into an arranged marriage.
Ihsan Ali and Zahraa Ali arrived at the high school and confronted their daughter who had previously sought help from school staff.
It’s not right ... you are not supposed to do this,” the father told his daughter during the attack.
According to the reports Ihsan Ali pinned his daughter to the ground while bystanders plead for him to stop. Police also allege that Zahraa Ali participated in the attack by grabbing and choking
The victim's boyfriend's father Victor Barnes told KOMO news that there had been ongoing issues with the Ali family including a prior physical altercation that resulted in a temporary protection order.
The 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend managed to escape to the school's main office where staff called 911. The school was placed on lockdown to prevent the parents from re-entering the building.
The parents were arrested and charged with attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
