"Nagpur Jail Inmates to Bring Festive Cheer to People's Diwali"

Nagpur: The lamps made by inmates of Nagpur Central Jail are all set to brighten the Diwali of others as the jail administration is all set to sell 5000 diyas made by the inmates. There are more than 2800 inmates in Nagpur Central Jail. More than 1200 of them are convicts who have been sentenced for various crimes. More than 30 to 40 percent of these inmates have ended up in prison due to crimes committed mitted in fit of anger. These inmates do not have a past crime record.

They sadly live in prison with a mindset of pushing through the day.

They engage themselves in some kind of art and craft to stay away from depression. Some do paintingsome make furniture, some try to make life easier by making different things. Jail authorities also encourage such prisoners by observing their behavior and art.

Cultivating their art, they also make different works of art on the occasion of various festivals. Now, Diwali, the festival of lightsis just around the corner. Keeping that in mind, emphasis was placed a month ago on preparing Akash Diyas and other diyas. For that the soil of the farm belonging to the prison was plowed. From this soilthe prisoners in the prison made 5,000 diyas which will now be sold in the market.

Prison Rehabilitation: This initiative is a part of jail rehabilitation packages that intention to offer inmates possibilities for skill development and reintegration into society. Enhancing Lives: By engaging in community-orientated efforts, inmates are taking steps to beautify the lives of humans outside the prison walls. Festive Happiness: The inmates' movements are expected to carry happiness and smiles to the faces of folks that can be less privileged or going through demanding situations during the festive season. Support from Authorities: Authorities are helping and supervising those projects, making sure that they align with the goal of rehabilitation and community carrier.
