"Nagpur GMCH Creates First-Ever Rest Room for Patients' Relatives"
India / Nagpur :
Nagpur: GOVERNMENT Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)popularly known as Medical Collegehas created 48-bedded rest room for relatives of the patients admitted in hospital.
This is probably for the first time that such rest room has been created in any Government Hospital in Maharashtra.
When one visits any hospital, one would find that the relatives of the admitted patients wander around the hospital. There is no facility for the relatives to stay except in paying wards or in side rooms in general wards. These rooms too are in a very small number. For example, in GMCH there are around 10 rooms in payingward and one special room attached to some general wardsIn private hospitals also, the facility is available only in deluxe or super deluxe rooms which are not affordable for most people.
While working in Government hospitals since my college days, I used to see relatives sitting outside finding their own places to rest.
With development taking place, some areas were marked for relativesbut were not good for resting. So, I and our Vice-Dean Dr Devendra Mahore sat togethertook a round of the hospital and found that a hall in front of Operation Theatre B was lying vacant.
We decided to convert it into rest room for relatives of the patients," narrated Dr Raj Gajbhiye, Dean of GMCH.
