Nagpur: In a shocking revelation it has come to fore that the arms smuggling racket operating from Mominpura has sold more than 100 pistols and Mausers. Many serious incidents including murder, robbery and dacoity have been carried out with these weapons.

There are suspicions that many contract killing incidents, including the murder of architect Eknath Nimgade in Gandhibagh, were carried out with the weapons provided by this racket.

This racket had come to light in the murder case of Jamil Ahmed who was shot dead on October 25 at Mominpura. Parvez, the mastermind of Jamil's murder, had taken the pistol used in the murder from Firoz alias Haji of Mominpura. While in custody, Firoz was informed about the supply of pistols from Imran Alam of Chhindwara.

Following which Tehsil police started digging up the racket. After this, a new case of arms smuggling was registered at Ganeshpeth police station and investigation was launched. In this case, so far 21 guns and 165 cartridges have been recovered and 1o criminals including Firoz Haji, Imran and notorious Parvez alias Pappu Patel of Hasanbagh have been arrested. Firoz Haji was also caught earlier with a Mauser. He used to sell weapons from Mominpura.
