"Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Warns Government of Consequences if December 24 Deadline is Missed"
India / Maharashtra :
Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange said on Saturday that the government will "regret it" if it doesn't comply with the December 24 deadline for granting reservation to the Maratha community.Addressing the media at Nanded, Jarange said deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis changed his stance on the September I lathicharge on protesters at Antarwali Sarati by terming it as self-defence by cops at the behest of someone but he didn't elaborate on who that "someone" was.
Jarange's quota demand is impractical: Bhujbal Manoj Jarange said,
"Devendra Fadnavis has changed his views because of the pressure exerted by one man." While he did not take names, Jarange has been trading verbal barbs with Maharashtra cabinet minister Chhagan Bhujbal recently as the latter has emerged as the face of the OBC community.Bhujbal, meanwhile, criticised his own government on Saturday over the ongoing Maratha-OBC conflict over reservation. Speaking at the OBC Elgar rally in Indapur tehsil, Pune district, he expressed disappointment over the alleged police inaction in curbing recent attacks on politicians' residences over the Maratha quota agitation.
