The body was found when housekeeping staff at the Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education and Research cleaned the pit following a blockage.

A senior police officer said the identity of the parents of the newborn will be determined through DNA analysis.

We will have to collect CCTV footage from the hospital, particularly near the radiology department to see who all passed by. Next we will have to make a list of all pregnant women who visited the hospital over the past couple of days
