The Australian was with Mumbai Indians since 2022 but the franchise had released him before the IPL 2025 auction.

David was with MI at the price of 8.25 crore but on the second day of the mega auction the 29-year-old had to take a 63 percent pay cut.

David had come in at a base price of Rs 2 crore and found his opening bid from RCB. Sunrisers soon joined him pushing up the price.

With no other team showing interest the fight for David was between two franchises.

RCB eventually outbid SRH to secure the services of David at Rs 3 crore.

The Singapore-born Australian David has been known for his explosive batting skills in the shortest format.

The slogger has so far played 38 matches in the IPL and has accumulated 659 runs. David boasts an extraordinary strike rate 170.28 in the league.

David has appeared in 54 T20Is and 4 one-dayers for Australia.
