Bates believes Atlanta defense has more film on Nix than other rookies due to his extensive college career including five seasons with the Auburn Tigersand Oregon Ducks. Bates himself even joked about Nix's extended stay in college football.
Nix is a ballhawk with 22 interceptions since entering the league in 2018, fifth-most in the NFL over that time. Bates has two this season after picking six last season. To Nix's credit he has generally been pretty protective of the football through the first 10 games of his NFL career

Bates also praised Nix for doing a good job running the Denver offense after he completed 63.6% of passes for 1,968 yards, 10 touchdowns, six interceptions and four ground scores guiding the Broncos to a 5-5 record on Sunday.
