"Government Mandates Wearing of ID for Officers and Employees: A Move Towards Enhanced Security"
India :
The government has introduced a new man- date requiring government officers and employees to carry their identity cards during their duty hours. This order has been issued and is currently being enforced by the relevant authorities, resulting in officers and employees consistently wearing their identity cards.
This policy extends to officers and employees from various government departments including the collectoratezilla parishad, divisional commissionerate, social justice bhavan, treasury, water resources department, education department, health department, Mahajyoti, Barti and other offices. The need for this directive arose from situations where some employees were not carrying their identity cards and this was causing confusion among citizens who could not identify them or determine their roles. In response to these concerns, the government decided to implement this measure. In addition to the ID card requirement, the government has instructed department heads to take action against officers and employees who fail to wear their identity cards during their duty hours. As a result, around 95% officers and employees from the collectorate and zilla parishad are now in compliance with this directive. Similarly, employees from other government departments have also begun adhering to this order
