India / New Delhi :
At a press conference, senior AAP leader Atishi revealed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a case pertaining to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Atishi criticized the timing of the summons, suggesting that it was a deliberate attempt to disrupt Kejriwal's involvement in campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Atishi asserted that the case involving the Delhi Jal Board was obscure, and she alleged that it was being used as a pretext to impede Kejriwal's political activities. She accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the summonses through federal agencies like the ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to silence opposition voices.
The ED's summons to Kejriwal are scheduled for March 18, marking the second instance of such action against him. The investigation is linked to allegations of money laundering related to irregularities within the Delhi Jal Board. Additionally, Kejriwal has been issued a notice for questioning in a separate case concerning money laundering associated with the Delhi excise policy.
Kejriwal has previously skipped eight summonses in the excise policy case, arguing that they were unlawful. Despite his non-compliance, a Delhi court granted him bail on two complaints filed by the agency for evading summons.
There has been no immediate response from the ED or the CBI regarding Atishi's allegations or the recent summonses issued to Kejriwal. The developments underscore the ongoing political tensions and legal battles between the AAP-led government in Delhi and the central government.
