Over the weekend, California's Sierra Nevada mountain range was hit by a powerful blizzard, characterized by dry, powdery snow and strong winds. The Mammoth Mountain ski area received nearly 2 feet of snow within hours, prompting closures and warnings from the National Weather Service. With snowfall rates reaching up to 6 inches per hour and gusts of up to 190 mph, the blizzard posed life-threatening conditions. By Sunday morning, parts of the mountain range had accumulated up to 12 feet of snow.

In Himachal Pradesh, Northern India, heavy snowfall and rainfall led to significant disruptions. More than 500mm of snowfall was recorded in high-altitude areas, resulting in the closure of 350 roads, including major highways. Lower-lying areas experienced heavy rainfall, causing travel disruptions and prompting red warnings for thunderstorms.

United Arab Emirates Thunderstorms:

The United Arab Emirates is bracing for thunderstorms expected to hit Monday night until Tuesday afternoon. These storms are forecasted to bring heavy rainfall, hail, lightning, and strong winds, leading to reduced visibility and rough sea conditions. Additionally, sand and dust blown by the winds will further impact visibility and create hazardous conditions.

Later in the week, a significant drop in temperatures is expected across the Persian Gulf region, including Oman, the UAE, southern Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Temperatures could plummet to 10 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average, posing challenges for residents and infrastructure.
