The fire erupted around 10.40pm on Friday on the 8th floor of the 21-storey building and rapidly spread to the 21st floor. Over 200 residents were evacuated and 12 fire tenders were deployed to control the flames.
Milaben Shah was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The injured suffered burns and smoke inhalation and were also hospitalized.
Fire officials believe a short-circuit in the building's electric duct may have caused the fire though the exact cause is still under investigation.
