Haryana / Gurugram :

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on August 2 that a series of communal clashes in the state has tragically claimed the lives of six individuals, including two home guards. The violence has also led to the arrest of 116 people as the authorities work to restore calm and bring the situation under control.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Khattar shared that while there were sporadic instances of violence reported in various parts of the state after the clashes in Nuh, the authorities have managed to contain these incidents, and the overall situation is gradually returning to normalcy.

"The injured victims have been admitted to medical facilities across the state, including Nalhar in Nuh and Medanta in Gurugram," stated Chief Minister Khattar. He emphasized that the law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing those responsible for the violence, with 116 arrests made so far and an ongoing search to apprehend additional suspects.

Chief Minister Khattar also highlighted the efforts to identify the instigators behind the violence, assuring that strict action will be taken against the culprits. He underscored the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the general public.

Tragically, Pradeep Sharma, the coordinator of Bajrang Dal in Badshapur, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Delhi's Safdarjang Hospital. In response to the escalating situation, a significant deployment of security forces has been implemented across the state, including nearly 30 companies of the Haryana Police and 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

In a move to ascertain the root causes of the communal violence and bring those responsible to justice, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established. The role of Monu Manesar, a member of the Bajrang Dal, in the clashes is currently under examination, as confirmed by Haryana's police chief, P.K. Agrawal, on August 2.

Recognizing the potential for further disturbances, the Delhi Police announced an increase in security measures in sensitive areas of the city on August 2. Deputy Commissioner of Police (PRO) Sunam Nalwa assured that stringent security arrangements have been put in place, with additional police forces deployed as needed. Any attempts to disrupt Delhi's security and communal harmony will be met with firm action.

The violence, which initially erupted following an attempt to halt a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Nuh district, claimed the life of a mosque's naib imam as a mob attacked the religious site. As the situation continues to be closely monitored, the Haryana Home Minister, Anil Vij, labeled the violence "engineered."

The state remains steadfast in its commitment to restoring peace and stability, while authorities intensify their efforts to investigate the root causes of the violence and prevent any further incidents.
