Chennai businessman detained at Coimbatore airport for carrying pistol

The Central Industrial Security Force Central Industrial Security Force CISF personnel detained a Chennai-based businessman on Thursday night after the security force found a pistol with two live rounds during the screening of his luggage.

The businessman was identified as N Sakthivel 51, from Mangadu in Chennai.

Peelamedu police said he brought his caravan to Coimbatore for service on Thursday morning and booked a flight ticket to return to Chennai on Thursday night.

He reached Coimbatore International Airport at 10.30 pm to board anIndigo flight. During the screening of his luggage the CISF personnel found a small pistol with two live rounds.

He was detained and handed over to the Peelamedu police in Coimbatore city. He produced his original gun licence to the police and was released after the verification.
