Central Zoo Authority (CZA) Poised to Approve Rescued Animal Exchanges for Gorewada

Nagpur: There is some respite in sight for 'housefull' Gorewada Wildlife Rescue Centre in the city. The proposals for a rescued animal exchange programme with other centres/zoos in the country is likely to get the much awaited nod from the Central Zoo Authority in near future.

Speaking with Lokmat Times on Friday, the member secretary of Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi Sanjay Shukla said, "The technical committee of the Central Zoo Authority met last week and discussed various proposals of animal exchange from various bodies including Gorewada Wildlife and Research Centre. The proposals of Gorewada Centre are under consideration. The minutes of the meeting are being prepared and a final decision in this regard is likely to come soon. "There are ten tiger enclosures in the Gorewada Wildlife Rescue Centre which has presently 18 conflict big cats.

The surplus tigers are kept in enclosures meant for leop- ard and sloth bears.
