Car driven by college student kills five women near Chennai

The accident happened on the OMR.CHENNAI: Five women died on the spot when a speeding car crashed into them while they were sitting on a roadside at Pandithamedu near Chennai on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Vijaya 65 Gauri 55 Lokammal 60 Yasodha 55 Andalammal 65 of Pandithamedu village.

All the occupants of the car were college students. They escaped with minor injuries as the car's airbags were deployed.

The police arrested two of the students who were in the car while two others were still at large. The police registered a case against the students.

Villagers who were outraged by the incident staged a roadblock on the OMR demanding justice for the victims and their families. The police assured to take stern action against the students responsible for the accident and provide compensation to the families
