Jagat Prakash Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has officially resigned as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Rajya Sabha, representing the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Nadda's resignation comes after his uncontested election to the upper house from Gujarat last month. His resignation from the Rajya Sabha seat representing Himachal Pradesh was accepted by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, effective from March 4, 2024.
The announcement of Nadda's resignation was made through a parliamentary bulletin issued by the Rajya Sabha. It stated, "Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in the Rajya Sabha and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f 4th March, 2024."
Nadda was one of the 57 Rajya Sabha members whose tenure was scheduled to end in April.
With his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, Nadda will now focus on his responsibilities as the national president of the BJP. His tenure as the party's president has seen various political developments and electoral victories, and he will continue to play a significant role in shaping the party's future trajectory.
