India / New Delhi :

A two-day meeting of nearly 11,500 BJP delegates from across the country commenced on Saturday, marking the beginning of the party's National Council meeting aimed at outlining campaign-themes" target="_blank">campaign themes for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders, the meeting is set to be the party's largest organisational gathering in recent memory, focusing on energizing its cadre for the electoral battle ahead.

The meeting, held at Bharat Mandapam, began with a gathering of the party's national office-bearers, who finalized key agenda items for discussion. BJP chief JP Nadda inaugurated the meeting, with Modi scheduled to deliver the valedictory address on Sunday, outlining the party's campaign strategy and urging members to strive for the target of winning 370 seats in the elections.

Attendees at the National Council meeting include chief ministers, state ministers, BJP state unit presidents, organisational leaders, and representatives from district bodies and 'morchas' across the country. In contrast to previous meetings, which typically saw around 3,000 attendees, this gathering reflects the heightened enthusiasm within the party ahead of the elections.

Key resolutions expected to be passed during the meeting will focus on the prevailing political atmosphere, the party's stance on pertinent issues, and the state of the economy. Topics likely to feature prominently in speeches and resolutions include the recent white paper on the economy, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the opposition's disarray, the successful G20 Summit in 2023, and the country's global standing.

Additionally, discussions may revolve around the outcomes of the Modi government's welfare initiatives and its emphasis on empowering women, youth, the poor, and farmers. Observers will also keenly watch for any mention of electoral bonds and the ongoing farmer protests, which have been subjects of debate and contention.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a senior party leader, expressed confidence that the convention will pave the way for the BJP to secure a resounding victory in the elections, aiming for 370 seats in the 543-member House. He further asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is poised to surpass 400 seats, echoing Modi's vision for the party's electoral success.
