The Bharatmala Pariyojana, a transformative initiative aimed at revolutionizing India's road infrastructure, is making significant strides towards its objectives. Phase-I of the Bharatmala Pariyojana envisaged the development of 34,800 kilometers of national highways. As of December 2023, a commendable 76% of this planned length, totaling 26,418 kilometers, has been awarded for construction. Impressively, approximately 15,549 kilometers of national highways have been completed under this phase, marking substantial progress towards enhancing connectivity and facilitating economic growth.
One of the notable aspects of the Bharatmala Pariyojana is its inclusive approach, with projects being undertaken across various states of India. A state-wise summary provided by Minister Gadkari reveals the extensive reach of the initiative, covering regions from Andhra Pradesh to West Bengal. The comprehensive development of national highways in these states underscores the project's commitment to fostering connectivity and development on a national scale.
Furthermore, the Bharatmala Pariyojana is not merely focused on construction but also emphasizes the importance of resource mobilization and efficient project execution. In Telangana, for instance, corridors totaling 1,719 kilometers have been earmarked for development under Phase-I of the Bharatmala Pariyojana. Of this, 1,026 kilometers have already been awarded, reflecting the project's momentum and commitment to timely execution.
Furthermore, Minister Gadkari provided insights into specific projects under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, highlighting ongoing developments and achievements across different regions.
