AITUC Leaders Rally, Hyderabad Called by the Framers Protest
Telangana / Hyderabad :
AITUC leaders led a rally from Sundarayya Vignan Kendra to Narayanaguda flyover in Hyderabad, protesting against the Modi-led Centre for promulgating anti-farmer and anti-auto driver laws. The rally was organized following the Bharat bandh call by trade unions and Samyuktha Kisan Morcha on Friday.
The focus of the protest was the hit-and-run clause in the Road Safety Bill 2019, which AITUC leaders argue poses a threat to the lives of auto drivers. They expressed concerns that mob violence resulting from accidents cannot be controlled and may even lead to the death of auto drivers. Despite assurances from the Centre that the clause would not come into force if the driver does not flee the accident site, AITUC leaders raised doubts about the practicality of this provision. They emphasized the vulnerability of auto drivers to attacks from onlookers and demanded the scrapping of the clause to ensure the security of their lives.
In addition to opposing the hit-and-run clause, AITUC leaders also called for the withdrawal of anti-farmer policies implemented by the Central government. They highlighted the need for measures to protect the interests of farmers and ensure their livelihoods are safeguarded.
DC correspondent Sanjay Samuel Paul provides a ground report from Hyderabad, shedding light on the grievances voiced by AITUC leaders and the objectives of the rally against anti-farmer and anti-auto driver laws enacted by the Modi-led Centre.
